The product

What do we manufacture for galleys and commercial kitchens?

We manufacture electric cooking ranges and hot plates in stainless steel: the plates and their elements, the body, and the control and switching that runs them. They are built for galleys aboard ship, for staff canteens and accommodation blocks, and for commercial kitchens ashore.

The reason this sits alongside our heating element work is that it is the same craft. A hot plate is a heating element, a cast or sheathed plate and a switching arrangement, made to a size. Because we make the elements, a plate that has failed on an existing range can be replaced without scrapping the unit.

Everything is made to requirement — the number of plates, the overall dimensions, whether an oven sits below, the supply arrangement and the finish. Send a drawing, a photograph of the unit being replaced, or simply the space it has to occupy.

Construction

How a range is built

A range is a stainless body, its heated plates, and the switching that controls them. Each part is specified for where the unit will work.

Plates and elements

 — the heated surfaces and the elements behind them, manufactured and fitted here

Stainless body

 — fabricated to the dimensions and the layout the kitchen or galley allows

Oven section

 — where one is required below the plates, with its own elements and control

Switching and control

 — energy regulators or switches per plate, and the thermostat arrangement for an oven

Supply arrangement

 — single or three phase, with the terminal position to suit where the unit is installed

Mounting and finish

 — freestanding, benched or gimballed for marine use, with edges and surfaces finished for a working kitchen

Selection

What to think about before ordering

Most of the decisions are about the space and the supply rather than the cooking.

Where it is going

 — a galley aboard ship, a staff canteen and a commercial kitchen have different constraints on size, access and mounting.

The supply you have

 — single or three phase, and what the existing circuit will carry. This often decides the number of plates before anything else does.

Number and size of plates

 — and whether an oven is needed below them.

Access into the space

 — door widths, companionways and lift dimensions. A unit that cannot be carried in has to be built in sections.

Marine mounting

 — whether the unit needs securing or fiddles for use at sea.

Replacement or new

 — if a plate has failed on an otherwise sound range, replacing the plate and its element is usually the better buy.

Applications

Where these are used

Ships' galleys and accommodation messes, offshore accommodation, staff canteens and labour accommodation kitchens, and commercial kitchens in hotels and catering operations across Dubai and Sharjah.

We also repair and re-plate existing ranges. Where the body is sound and a plate or its element has failed, replacing the failed part is quicker and considerably cheaper than a new unit.

FAQs

Hot plate and cooking range questions

We manufacture them in stainless steel at our workshop in Al Sajaa Industrial Area, Sharjah — the plates and their elements, the body, and the switching.

Yes, and where the body is sound that is usually the better buy. Because we make the elements, a plate can be replaced rather than the whole unit scrapped.

Yes. Dimensions, the number of plates, whether an oven sits below, and the mounting are all made to requirement. Tell us the space and the access route into it.

Yes. Marine units can be made with securing arrangements for use at sea, and built in sections where the access route will not take a complete unit.

That depends on the number and size of plates. Tell us what supply and circuit rating you have available and we will work the configuration around it.
